Determined to “get to the other side”

Turtle
. . . his fierce, humorous eyes, under brows like fingernails, stared straight ahead. I’ve always admired and remembered this passage from Steinbeck’s, Grapes of Wrath.  I like how the turtle continues to look past all the obstacles towards his goal. He focuses on what he wants and pursues it, not stopping to deal with all the trivial matters thrown at him. The turtle looks at the big picture, the final result, and focuses on that to keep him going rather than on the little weeds that block his path. A lesson I need everyday.
