Army of Women

Sorry, no photo this time.  It has come to my attention that even though I’ve posted in Wonky Wheel and done a bunch of blabbing about Army of Women, my family and friends have not been listening.

Army of Women is an organization dedicated to breast cancer research.  Their goal is to get a million women signed up to participate in research studies.  This doesn’t mean there is one giant study.  The idea is that people doing research on breast cancer would have access to this huge database of women.

So you sign up, and every now and then you get an email about, say, a study of women whose sisters have had breast cancer, or maybe a study of women who have been out of treatment for five years, or perhaps women with no history at all.  The email will tell you about the study and then if you are eligible, you can decide whether or not to participate.

In the two or so years I’ve been in it, all I’ve done is fill out a questionnaire.

The goal is great.  What are you waiting for?

I, too, thank you for the reminder. I am delinquent in getting my mammogram. I will schedule one Monday and sign up with Army of Women. I have just learned that another friend of mine just had a lumpectomy with lymph nodes removed last week.
