Winter locust tree

Leafless locust tree
We have way too many volunteer locust trees on our land, many of which are horribly thorny. This one, though, is thornless and a shape that is pleasing in both winter and summer.

That’s a great tree. There were a few very large black locusts in my back yard in Poughkeepsie. One was swathed in parasitical poison ivy, and another blew down in a storm and went through the next-door neighbors’ roof; they don’t have much of a root system, I believe.
